The two-wheeler maker also aims to upgrade its existing lineup. In line with its expansion plan, TVS will introduce the TVS Apache RTR 200 FI ABS version of the naked motorcycle. TVS Motor Company is planning to expand its product portfolio in the Indian market. The Chennai-based company had confirmed two new launches (a motorcycle and a scooter) for this fiscal year. Besides this, the company will also bring in new models under its collaboration with BMW Motorrad. However, the launch details of the new TVS Apache RTR 200 variant are still under wraps.
Launched in 2016, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V lineup was revised as per the mandatory AHO and BS4 norms early this year. Due to high demand of the carburettor version, the company postponed the launch of the Apache RTR FI (fuel injected) model. Power for this new variant comes from the 197.75cc, oil-cooled engine benefited with fuel injection technology. This motor is around 0.5bhp more powerful than the carburettor version.
Currently, the Apache RTR 200 carburetted version comes with a price tag of Rs 92,915 and the FI (Non-ABS) is priced at Rs 97,125. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The new TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS FI model is estimated to be priced around Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The bike’s FI ABS-equipped model sources its power from a 197.75cc, single cylinder, oil-cooled engine, which is boosted with fuel injection technology. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox, this unit will be slightly more powerful (0.5bhp) and faster (by 0.05 seconds) than the carburettor version. It delivers a peak power of 20.7bhp at 8,500rpm with 18.1Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS FI version can do 0-60kmph in 3.9 seconds. The top speed of the new FI variant will equivalent to the carburettor model – i.e. 127kmph – 129kmph.
The fuel injection technology will smoothen the engine’s throttle response and improve its fuel efficiency. Currently, the bike offers a mileage around 35kmpl in city and 45kmpl on freeways. The TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS FI model is likely to deliver around 37kmpl –47 kmpl.
