Ford EcoSport, the car that triggered the sub 4-metre SUV trend in the Indian automotive market, is soon set to receive a major facelift. Expect the updated EcoSport to launch in India during the second week of November, 2017. The new EcoSport gets a raft of updates, both on the outside as well as the inside. The most notable changes are the new trapezoidal grille, flanked by new headlights with integrated DRLs. The new EcoSport will also feature redesigned front and rear bumpers and a new cover for the spare wheel.
The interiors too have been given a refresh and it looks quite contemporary. The new bits include the steering wheel, instrument panel and dashboard layout. The most significant update, however, is the new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes with Ford’s latest SYNC 3 software.
Another major revision to the facelifted Ford EcoSport will come under its hood. Ford has officially revealed that its all-new 1.5 Dragon petrol engine will power the updated EcoSport. This 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine is capable 121bhp of power and 150 Nm of peak torque – which are 10 per cent and 7 per cent better over the current 1.5 petrol engine, which it is set to replace. The new engine will come mated to either a 5-speed manual, or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Recently a Titanium S TDCi variant of the new EcoSport was snapped at a stockyard in India. It features sporty elements that include a blacked out grille, smoked lights and different alloy wheels.
